Botanical name: Phlebodium aureum
A fascinating and funky fern, less delicate in appearance than many of its contemporaries. The sturdy, elongated, blue-green fronds curl into non-conforming straps, spilling from the plant in a delightfully higgledy-piggledy manner.
A great, undemanding houseplant, providing a perfect background for other foliage plants or to soften a dark corner.
Low to moderate light requirements, ideal for homes and offices.
Keep the soil moist at all times. Water when the surface becomes slightly dry, but don't over-do it, the Blue Star Fern won't thank you if it is left standing in water. Water from the sides rather directly onto the leaves. Liquid fertiliser can be applied occasionally during the growing season. Take care not to over-feed, they don’t need a lot.
